According to the manufacure there is some real science and field testing behind the new pattern. Below is an article from the G-Force website.
Breaking down the G-Force All Terrain Camo Pattern:
Camouflage is not about trying to be something else but breaking up the human figure to make it as if you do not exist to the prey you are stalking. When designing this pattern we took every color and shadow placement into consideration and also looked at the colors that reflect natures surroundings. The Greys both light and dark change tone depending on surroundings, just like deer and elk that are one solid color this colors reflect and blend into every environment.
How did you come up with your design?
Look at most of the camo patterns out there today they are very dark at a distance or try to blend with surroundings of one type of environment. Deer and elk see at a blur (like squinting your eyes) all the dark colors blend together causing you to look like a solid object. We are designed to Conceal the human shape any where, when in the light the whites and light greys breaks up the body by showing through as negative space this in-turn makes you appear as shadows and earth tones not just in one environment in any environment.
Why choose a lighter color green?
When we were studying the color palate for the camo pattern we found that were many different colors and shades of green, we were able through trial and error form the correct shade that reflects other colors and different shade for green to blend into any situation even when there is zero green present the other colors reflections and tones over power and conceal. We believe we have developed a pattern that will work in any environment for any hunting situation.
