Muddy Outdoors
Hunter Tree Stand
UPDATE:
I've been out in the woods across Minnesota with this stand now a month after the intial review.
I love it! Very light, even with four climbing sticks strapped to it. It's very comfortable and quite! I've packed this setup into the woods and put it up in the dark and have no complaints. When it comes to non-climbing stands I think it would be tough to beat. Very sturdy and confidence inspiring for those standing shots.
I'd recommend this stand to anyone looking for a non-climbing tree stand that offers the same amount of portability and ease of setup as a traditional climbing tree stand. When combined with Muddys climbing sticks it can be setup as fast as any climbing stand.
I only recieved this stand a few days ago. My initial impression was Wow!, this has to be one of the best quality stands I've ever owned. Comes almost completely assembled, with only four bolts to install if you want to use the foot rest. One of the first things I noticed was how light this stand was compared to my other stands. Trust me, it's noticable. This will be a great stand to haul back and forth into the woods without to much grunt. The seat cushion is crazy thick, which will make sitting for extended hours easy and comfortable on the back side.
The unique design Muddy uses on this stand for leveling is gonna prove to be very useful in the trees I usually pick to hunt from. I always seem to be pitched forward or back putting me in an awkward position. Not a worry with this stand, you can easily adjust the platform and the seat to accomodate a wide range of angles. Looking forward to trying this feature out.
This stand is a single post design which I've rarely used but with the included tree cleat I believe this stand will be rock solid sturdy and capable of keeping me firmly planted to my chosen hunting perch.
Now...for the dirty little secret that kinda caught me off guard... I was sad to see the all to familiar "Made In China" sticker on Muddy Products. Not a big deal to some, but sad to say the least considering Muddy is located in the Heartland..
Over all a great product, just to bad we can't make them at home. I'll have further info on the stand once I get a chance with it in the field. Pictures coming soon
