Goin' Hoggin'

Goin' Hoggin'

Just a small dream of mine. This is an animal I have not ever hunted. However, It is on my top of my list of what I would love to experience.
Feral swine are spreading like crazy in about fifteen southern states. Texas has an estimated 2 million roaming the Lone Star State alone. Wild Hogs are now as far north as New Hampshire and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The ugly animals are actually pretty smart, that is what I have read anyways. By the sounds of it, they are as smart  a golden retriever.  I guess the first step since I have no friends that own land in Texas, is to contact the state agriculture department to see if they have a list of land owners that want some hunters to visit, and to take care of the troublesome porkers. This would be a great long weekend road trip hook up the Airstream and go...

Jasmine,
Yah they are fun to hunt, and yes very smart animals.. I hunted them in Kansas... Got one with my 45-70 quite a few years back.. We had a problem with them on our ranch.. Not so much anymore since the govt came in with sharp shooters and a chopper.. But I know they are still there.. Good article..
