Thermacell heated insoles

Thermacell heated insoles
I received the insoles in December and was super excited to try them out on some cold hunts. The first time I took them out it was 34 degrees. I wore a pair or thermal socks and used the insoles and my feet stayed plenty warm. The next two occasions I used them was in 15 degree or lower temps. I was wearing 400-gram boots and somewhat thin socks as recommended in the instructions. My feet froze. I don't believe these are made for temperatures much below freezing unless you have heavy boots.  The insoles were built well and held up...

I Hope No One Was Watching

I Hope No One Was Watching
This year I finally came to the realization that I was going to be forced into making a decision that I have been putting off for years.  There was a much needed surgical repair that had to be done on my right foot that I could no longer prolong.  When was this lengthy procedure with a lengthy recovery time going to work into my already busy schedule?  How would I work it around the Ohio Whitetail hunting season? Teach Your Daughters to Hunt
Life is too short not to teach your daughters how to hunt.  This sport isn't just for men anymore and it's having a resurgence of newcomers with the popularity of movies like the Hunger Games.  This became apparent to me when I started being referred to as the main character of the movie, Katniss.  The more I heard it the more confused I was getting.  I'm not one for sitting around watching TV, movies or reading novels.  I wasn't sure what people were referring to at first.  Outdoors is where you'll find me.  Or working, have to work to live and...

Deer Camp

Deer Camp
Everyone has a memory of their childhood days at deer camp. Mine starts with the day before deer opener. Every Friday at school, desperately wanting to be home, I couldn't wait to have fun with my dad. My hunting supplies were already packed once I walked in the door. Everyone was already packed and we'd jump in the GMC to head north. We hunted on 40 acres of land owned by Mary Jane, a sweet elderly lady. We always checked in with her first. I have a memorable story about this little old lady, but I won't get into that now. Anyway,...
